Your complete trip, schedule, and expense records are stored on your device. Tripin does not offer accounts or sync to a server of its own. Photos you attach to an expense or trip are also stored only on your device. When you use the map or place search, the map region or search request you make may be sent to an external service.
1. Operator and scope
This policy applies to the Tripin Android app, provided by an individual developer, and to this privacy policy page. Tripin does not operate accounts or a backend server of its own. Questions about the handling of personal information can be sent to the email address at the bottom of this policy.
2. Information handled and purposes
Trip, schedule, and expense records
Trip name, city, dates, budget, currency, place of expense, category, amount, date, address, and the location coordinates saved with an expense are used for trip management, expense records, and budget and statistics displays. If you add a trip schedule, its name, place name, category, date and time, memo, and the place's location coordinates are used for schedule management and map display. These records are stored on your device and are not transmitted to the developer's server.
Photos
When you attach a photo to an expense or trip, it is brought into the app through Android's system Photo Picker or the system Camera app. With this approach the app does not request a separate photo-library or camera permission; only the photo you actively pick or capture is ever handed to the app. Imported photos are stored in Tripin's private storage area on your device and are not transmitted to the developer's server or any other external service.
A photo taken with the camera is saved to Tripin at the moment you confirm the shot, and at the same time saved to the Android system gallery (in a Pictures/Tripin folder). If you cancel the shot, it is not saved anywhere. A photo you pick from the gallery is never re-saved or duplicated into the system gallery. On Android 9 and below, the app may request storage write permission to save the captured photo to the gallery.
Deleting an expense or trip also deletes Tripin's own copy of any attached photo. The original saved to the system gallery from the camera is not deleted; to remove it you need to delete it directly in the Android Gallery app.
Location information
When you grant location permission and use the current-location feature or place search, your current location is used to move the map and to search for nearby places. Expenses and schedules can both use the same place search feature when you add them. The app does not track your location in the background, and does not continuously store your device's current location on the developer's server. You can enter trips, schedules, and expenses manually without granting location permission.
Advertising and related information
The app uses the Google Mobile Ads SDK and the Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) to display ads and manage the related consent. For the purposes of serving ads, frequency capping, preventing abuse, measuring performance, and managing consent, Google may process information such as approximate location inferred from your IP address, device identifiers (for example the Android advertising ID or an app- or developer-scoped identifier), ad impression information, product interactions such as app launches and taps, and crash logs and performance or diagnostic information.
The app first uses UMP to determine whether a region-specific consent flow is required and to present the necessary consent screen. No ads are requested at this stage. Only once UMP reports that ad requests are permitted does the app initialize the Google Mobile Ads SDK — once per app launch — and request an ad. If the consent information cannot be refreshed, a previously stored valid consent status may be used. Whether ads are personalized is determined by the consent signals recorded by UMP and by Google's applicable policies.
Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) is an iOS-only feature and is not implemented in the Android version. On Android the UMP consent flow above takes its place, and you can reset or delete the advertising ID in Android Settings. Deleting that ID does not stop all processing carried out to serve non-personalized ads, apply frequency capping, produce aggregate reporting, and prevent abuse. The core features of the app — trip management, the map, and expense records — remain available regardless of your consent choices.
3. Information not collected
The app does not offer account registration and does not ask for your name, a password, payment card numbers, or bank account information. There is no inquiry form inside the app. If you contact the developer directly at the email address below, the email service may process your email address and the contents of your message.
4. External services and transfers
The following external services are used for app features and to serve ads.
- Google Maps (Maps SDK for Android) and Google Play services: used to display the map and to obtain the device location. When a map is displayed, moved, or zoomed, general network information such as the map region being viewed may be processed by Google, along with your IP address, device and SDK metadata, a Maps SDK identifier, and crash information. Google Privacy Policy
- Geoapify place search: used to search for shops, accommodation, and places of interest. When you run a search, the search term, display language, and IP address are sent, and when your current location is available, coordinates rounded to three decimal places are sent with it as the reference point for the search. Rounded coordinates can still represent a precise location. If your current location is unavailable, the city name saved with the currently selected trip may be appended to the search term to improve accuracy. Search results may be held temporarily in app memory; search terms that you do not save as a trip record are not separately stored in the app's persistent storage. Geoapify's place data is based on data from OpenStreetMap contributors. Geoapify Privacy Policy · OpenStreetMap Privacy Policy
- Frankfurter exchange rate API: used to convert expenses entered in another currency into your trip currency, and to power the exchange calculator. Each request sends only two currency codes and a reference date; expense amounts, trip details, and location are never sent. Past expenses use the rate for the date of the expense, while today's expenses and the calculator use the latest rate. Retrieved rates are held temporarily in app memory and are not written to the device's persistent storage. Frankfurter
- Google Mobile Ads and Google User Messaging Platform: used to serve ads and manage consent. Details about Google's handling of information are available in the Google Privacy Policy and in how Google handles information in apps that use Google services.
- GitHub Pages: used to publicly host this privacy policy page. When you open this page, GitHub may process general access information such as your IP address, browser, and request logs in accordance with its own policy. GitHub Privacy Statement
The service providers above may process information on servers outside your country, including in the countries where they operate. The specific countries of processing, retention periods, deletion methods, and processing practices follow each provider's policy and your consent choices. The developer reviews each service's terms and privacy policy so that external service providers protect information at an appropriate level in accordance with the relevant agreements, applicable law, and Google Play's requirements.
5. Retention and deletion
Trip, schedule, and expense records are kept on your device until you delete them in the app. You can delete an individual expense, an individual schedule, an entire trip, or every record stored on the device at once using Delete All Travel Data in Settings. Uninstalling the app or clearing its storage in Android Settings also removes the app data stored on your device.
If Android backup is enabled, trip records, schedules, expenses, and app preferences may be included in Google account backups or device-to-device transfers and restored later. Retention and deletion of those backups follow your device and account backup settings and Google's policy; deleting records inside the app does not immediately remove backups that already exist or files you have exported.
Retention and deletion of information processed by the place search service and the advertising services follow each provider's policy. Requests to review or delete information under the developer's control can be sent to the contact address below.
6. Your choices and rights
- You can change location permission at any time from the app permissions screen in Android Settings, or from Location Permission in the app's own Settings.
- Attaching a photo goes through the system Photo Picker and Camera app without a separate permission; the storage write permission that may be requested on Android 9 and below can be changed from the app permissions screen in Android Settings.
- You can reset or delete the advertising ID under Settings > Privacy > Ads on your Android device.
- Where it is offered in your region, you can review or change your advertising consent from Privacy Choices in the app's Settings.
- You can edit or delete trips, schedules, and expense records directly in the app.
- You can export the trip schedules and expenses stored on your device as an Excel, PDF, or CSV file using Export Data in Settings. The file is generated on your device; the exported file goes to the location or app you choose and is not sent to the developer.
- You can erase everything stored on the device at once using Delete All Travel Data in Settings.
- To access, correct, or delete information under the developer's control, or to ask about the handling of personal information, use the contact address below.
7. Protection of information
Trip, schedule, and expense records are stored in the app's private storage area on Android. The app's network requests to external services use HTTPS. That said, no method of storage or transmission can be guaranteed to be absolutely secure, and your device's screen lock and backup settings also affect how well information is protected. The developer works to maintain reasonable protections appropriate to the app's features and the nature of the information handled.
8. Children's privacy
Tripin is not a service designed for children, and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe that a child's personal information has been processed, please let the developer know at the contact address below.
9. Changes to this policy
This policy may be revised if the app's features, the external services it uses, or applicable law change. Significant changes will be announced on this page or through the app, and the effective date will be updated.
